A new analysis demonstrates that this approach delivers promising results

While medication non-adherence is a problem across all patient populations, it is especially troubling in individuals living with HIV. That’s because this issue can lead to drug resistance and ultimately disease progression. As a result, a compelling new retrospective analysis from Avella Specialty Pharmacy, developed in cooperation with mobile health provider mscripts, is garnering interest across the healthcare industry. This analysis showed that patients who used a mobile app featuring refill and medication reminders were:

• 2.9 times more likely to be adherent versus non-users in the study.
• Less likely to discontinue medication refills (4.5% vs. 12.6%).
• 49% more adherent than the general population of HIV patients in the US.

The mobile app studied in this analysis was also part of a larger program rollout that included a variety of powerful patient education, marketing and data privacy efforts. Learn more about the study methodology and its conclusions by viewing a comprehensive white paper that details the study here.
